For education institution administrators, retention, enrollment, and attrition have a particular interest since so many students begin at education institution and do not achieve their educational goals. In some cases, the reason for lack of goal achievement is unknown to education administrators since these administrators often do not have the resources to conduct significant research to analyze the reason for the fluctuating retention, enrollment, and attrition rates.

Retention, enrollment, and attrition are of grave concern for education institutions. Education institutions administrators are under great scrutiny concerning retention, enrollment, and attrition rates from many internal and external entities. Therefore, education institutions are expected to begin developing reform strategies that will focus on improving these critical areas and improving the quality of education for students, parents, and society as a whole. Educational Quality Improvement focuses on developing strategies for administration, faculty and staff, student services, and policy and procedures to assist in resolving many of the complex issues that lead to attrition, enrollment, and retention problems.
